Who's really running for President?

Some of my Republican friends have explained to me that Sarah Palin *could* be ready for the presidency and would eventually make a good president. I've heard several talk about hoping that if this election doesn't go their way, they hope she will continue in 2012. None of them have spoke with confidence about her *current* abilities though.

Maybe we all need to re-think who is really running for president on the Republican side. Evidently, from a rally in Florida, it isn't McCain.

As Sarah Palin was speaking, several people had on McCain/Palin t-shirts and hats, but the overwhelming majority of signs being waved said either "Country First" or "Florida is Palin Country."

What happened to McCain???

See the CNN article:
McCain's name nowhere to be seen at Palin rally

Very interesting! I will point out though, that sometimes the media can twist things and not provide the same type of coverage on both sides. For example, they made a big deal out of Palin's wardrobe but ignored the fact that Obama spent $700,000 on lights and sounds for a (one time, I think?) speech in Berlin. See http://www.thaindian.com/newsportal/india-news/obama-spent-a-whopping-700000-dlrs-for-his-berlin-speech-last-summer_100114101.html

Anyway, you have a great blog! I wanted to comment on what you said about people thinking black individuals vote for black people just because they're black. I completely agree with you that is a false and prejudicial statement - read Huntley Brown's thoughts at http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/huntleybrown.asp.
Also, see http://www.nbra.info/.

Also, what a great story of taking your kids to go vote - they'll never forget that! That makes me mad about the comments from the workers though :(

Thanks for allowing me to intrude on your blog!

I've been seeing "I (heart) Sarah!" in our area. No mention of McCain!

Also I have a problem with the slogan "Country First." Isn't God supposed to be 1st? Especially considering the right-wing evangelicals supporting the republican party.

Becky, yes, you're probably right about expenses...but I think the problem with the Palin wardrobe expense is because of their own adamant comments about cleaning up Washington and getting rid of the frivilous spending...and condemning everyone else.

While $700,000 is way more than I can imagine, I would guess that it is probably in line with the expenses that take place when organizing an event. $150,000 for a wardrobe??? $20,000 for hair and make-up??? I could buy a very nice house for that!

Belinda, I do believe you're right about the "God first" comment. ...but I suppose it would be too overt and may cross some constitutional lines...which makes me wonder about how that became such an overt issue anyway. What part of the country are you in?

Janet,

I'm not sure, but from the tone of your blog I suspect you've been hurt by Christians or members of the Church of Christ. I could be wrong, but I just wanted to say I'm sorry for that if that's the case. I know that many churches do neglect the needs of singles. Yes, I do know that there are many Christians who are... well... ignorant? maybe? and I'm sorry if you've been offended. The church is full of hurtful people (kind of like a hospital for the sick) and I hope you haven't been hurt by them.

I could argue with you on your response to my question from the Letter from 2012 but really there's no point, as I'm sure Obama will become our president elect tonight.
There are many things that you've said that has saddened me that you believe that, but like I said there's really no point arguing.

In the end, though, I truly hope that I'm wrong. I hope that Obama is a good president and does fulfill his promises and make us all proud of our country.

I hope that your agency does not lose donations - as many people suspect will happen after taxes are raised on the upper class. I hope that if one of your kids (that you mentor) comes to you and says "Miss Janes, I'm gay, but I know its wrong. Can you help me?", you will still be able to help him with throughout his struggles of this sin, which many homosexual activitists are hoping to make illegal someday. (I know crazy, but it's true, trust me on that one!)

I hope that your students will not be forced to accept the homosexual lifestyle and have it promoted on them in things as minor as math problems and cognitive reading skills. See these videos of TRUE events in Massachusetts for what I'm talking about:

I could go on and on but there's not point at this time.

Again I want to thank-you for the difference you make in the lives of children, and adults. You are an inspiration to many.

Lastly, I want to add, that yes, I do realize that church's behavior towards homosexuals has been innappropriate - I mostly agree with Mike Cope's thoughts on homosexuality - http://preachermike.com/2006/04/12/homosexuality- except for the marriage rights, but I'm not against civil unions. I do realize that most Christians have not been very Christ-like towards this sin.

I hope that the Supreme Court does not have liberal majority anytime ever, and you and I will be able to enjoy the country we've been blessed with..........

If Palin runs for President in 2012, at least she has name recognition going for her... but, at this point, that may not work in her favor
